Fordham's Alex Jahns Named Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Goalkeeper Totaled 31 Saves and 11 Steals in Three Victories

Bridgeport, Pa. – The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Thursday with Fordham senior goalkeeper Alex Jahns (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) being selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.  It is his first award this season and the third of his career.
 
Jahns went 3-0 in net for the Rams as Fordham opened league action against Johns Hopkins, Navy, and #18 George Washington.  He totaled 31 saves, 11 steals, and two assists in those three games.  On Saturday, he opened the weekend with six saves, two assists, and two steals in a win over Johns Hopkins, and followed with 12 stops and five steals at Navy.  Then on Sunday, he notched 13 saves and four steals in an upset win over then-#18 George Washington.

Jahns and the rest of the Fordham water polo team, which entered this week's national top 20 poll at #19, will next be in action on Sunday, October 1st, at 16th-ranked Bucknell, starting at 1:30 PM.
