Fordham Game Notes
Â
Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University football Rams continue their 2017 season, the 117th varsity season at Rose Hill, by host the 12th-ranked Eastern Washington University Eagles in their home opener on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, September 16, at 1:00 p.m.
Â
The Fordham Ticket booth will open at 11:30 AM for sales. Also there will be a Maroon Club pregame reception in Lot A two hours before every home game. Advance registration is available at forever.fordham.edu/fbpregamereceptions.
The game will be streamed live on Stadium with Matt Martucci (p-b-p), Andy Gresh (color) and Morgan Uber (sidelines) announcing and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on WFUVsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p), Tommy Aldrich (color) and David Spampinato (sidelines) handling the announcing chores.Â
Fordham enters the game with a 1-1 record after a 38-31 win at Central Connecticut State last week while Eastern Washington is 0-2 after a home loss to #2 North Dakota State last Saturday.
Â
This will be the first ever meeting between Fordham and Eastern Washington on the gridiron.
Â
A few notes on the game:
Â
Corey Caddle
Fordham has won eleven straight games on Jack Coffey Field, the third longest current home winning streak in the NCAA FCS.
Â
The game will be Fordham's first against a team from the Big Sky conference and the first time the Rams will play an opponent from west of the Mississippi River since they hosted the University of San Francisco at Triboro Stadium in 1951.
Â
Eastern Washington has never played Fordham, let alone any current member of the Patriot League. In fact, Eastern has only played seven games all-time east of the Mississippi River. The last time came in 2013 in Ohio when Eastern fell at Toledo 33-21. That was only EWU's fourth game ever in the Eastern time zone.
Fordham junior wide receiver
Corey Caddle was named Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week following the Central Connecticut State game.In a 38-31 come-from-behind win over the Blue Devils, Caddle caught eleven passes for 180 yards and one touchdown. The eleven receptions and 180 receiving yards are both career-high for Caddle, who caught a 14-yard scoring strike from
Kevin Anderson in the second quarter. Caddle also returned one kickoff for 15 yards and three punts for nine yards to amass 204 all-purpose yards in the game.
Â
The Fordham captains for 2017 will be
Manny Adeyeye,
Kevin Anderson,
Chase Edmonds, and
Caleb Ham.
Â
Senior running back
Chase Edmonds became the school's all-time leading rusher last year and enters the game with 5,400 career rushing yards. The 5,400 career yards places Edmonds second on the Patriot League career rushing list, 221 yards behind Jordan Scott's record of 5,621 yards.
Â
Edmonds also owns the Fordham and Patriot League career touchdown (70) and career rushing touchdown (63) records.
Â
Senior quarterback
Kevin Anderson threw for 3,183 yards last year, the fourth best single season in school history, in his first year as a starter. His 498 passing yards so far in 2017 brings his career mark to 6,579, third best in school history. Anderson also has 62 career scoring strikes, third best all-time at Fordham.
Â
The scout team players of the week were announced following practice on Thursday:
 Colton Smith (offense for defense),
Sawyer Schwarz (defense for the offense) and
Cooper Weiss (special teams).
Â
No New York area football team has won more games since 2012 than Fordham, who has amassed 47 victories over that stretch. The closest collegiate competitors are Sacred Heart (35) and Rutgers (29), while the NFL's Giants and Jets have 39 and 33 wins, respectively, each.
