Women's Basketball Announces Two More Staff Additions

1,000-Point Scorer Corning Named Director of Basketball Ops, Scerbo Named Video Coordinator

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's basketball program today announced two more staff additions for the 2017-18 season: the return of former standout Abigail Corning as Director of Basketball Operations and the elevation of former team manager Chris Scerbo to video coordinator. The pair follows the hiring of assistant coach Sonia Burke last month.

"Abigail and Chris are both Fordham graduates," Head coach Stephanie Gaitley remarked, "It's great to see them continue to be part of the Ram family."

Corning will be a familiar name to Fordham women's basketball fans, having played four seasons for the Rams from 2011-14 under Coach Gaitley. Corning ranks fifth all-time with both 127 appearances and 107 starts, including all 98 games over her final three seasons, and became the 17th player to score 1,000 career points, currently sitting 10th all-time with 1,213 points, good for a 9.6 career average. She also ranks inside the top-10 in field goals made, three-point field goals made, three-point field goal shooting percentage, assists, minutes, and rebounds.

Corning earned her MBA in Marketing at Fairfield University, working as a graduate assistant in athletics marketing and promotions before moving up to Marketing and Fan Experience Coordinator, a position she held for a little over one year before moving back to the Bronx.

"Abigail is one of, if not the, hardest working players I have ever coached. She has an incredible work ethic and her competitiveness is contagious. I'm looking forward to her carrying all those outstanding qualities to the coaching side."

Scerbo is no stranger to the team either, having served as one of the team's managers last year, his senior year as an undergraduate. Prior to that, he served as Fordham Prep's freshman basketball coach for the 2015-16 season, and was involved with the Fordham men's basketball program as a team manager from 2013-15.

"Chris joined us as a manager this year and his work ethic is second to none. When this position opened up, Chris immediately asked me to be involved with our program. Chris' spirit, energy, and knowledge will be a great addition to our program."
