League Release

Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 has today announced its 2017 volleyball preseason poll and defending champions Dayton once again sit at the top, as voted on by the league's head coaches, while Fordham has been predicted to finish eighth among 10 programs. Last year, the Rams finished 11-18 overall and 4-10 in league play to place seventh, just one spot outside of a postseason berth.

Dayton received nine first-place votes for 99 points followed by VCU, garnering the other first-place vote and 84 points overall. Saint Louis, with 77 points, Rhode Island, with 69, Duquesne, with 67, and George Washington, with 45 points, rounded out the predicted postseason teams.

Just ahead of the Rams, with 38 points, is Davidson. Fordham received 36 points. La Salle and George Mason, with 19 and 16 points, respectively, round out the poll.

The 2017 campaign begins tomorrow, Friday, August 25, with the University of New Orleans Tournament. The Rams will begin with Southeast Missouri State at 1:30 p.m. before playing the hosts at 7 p.m. Both times are eastern.

Fordham's conference schedule begins on Friday, September 22, at Davidson. The Rams will then head to VCU two days later for a noon match that Sunday.

The Rams will play home-and-home series with both of the aforementioned programs, as well as Dayton, Saint Louis, and Rhode Island.
