Sahel Anwar Named Head Squash Coach at Fordham

Premier Performance Squash director to guide the Rams

Bronx, N.Y. - Sahel Anwar, Owner/Director of Premier Performance Squash (PPS), was named head squash coach at Fordham University it was announced today by Director of Athletics David Roach.
 
"We are excited to be able to bring in someone with Sahel's experience to lead our squash program," said Roach. "His background as a student-athlete and coach, along with his international squash involvement and his ability to connect to the players will greatly benefit our student-athletes. We are thrilled to add him to our staff."
 
At PPS, which provides professional squash services to communities, including high schools and colleges, in Southern Connecticut, Westchester County, and Manhattan, Anwar has coached several nationally ranked juniors. He is also part of the US National Team Coaching Staff - travelling with TEAM USA to international competitions as well as assisting in Regional Squads Training sessions.
 
Anwar also currently is employed at Squash Design USA LLC in Fairfield, Connecticut, where he serves as a business development manager. He is responsible for overall brand management and squash design at the Squash Design USA, including sponsorship arrangements with players and tournaments.
 
Anwar is no stranger to Fordham as he serves as the head squash coach at Fordham Prep as well as at The Masters School and with the Greenwich Public Schools. He led The Masters School to the 2017 Division III High School championship.
 
Prior to taking his position at PPS, Anwar served as the Squash1 Project Manager at K-Team, Inc., in Stamford, Connecticut, from 2011-2013. He developed a viable business and implementation plan to build Squash1, a 3,000-square-foot, two-court teaching facility.
 
Anwar also served as the director and squash professional at FASSP in Stamford from 2008-2013, providing professional squash lessons and building a squash community at the facility.
 
A 2004 graduate of Denison University where he received a degree in political science, Anwar was a four-year member of the squash program, leading the Big Red to the 2002 and 2004 National Squash championships and serving as a team captain as a junior and senior.
 
A resident of Connecticut, Anwar has made a tremendous impact on the squash community in the greater New York City and Southern CT area. He has a Level I and Level II Coaching Certification from US Squash and is in the process of completing Level III certification which will allow him to develop and train elite players.
