Tucson, Ariz. – The 2017
Collegiate Baseball Freshmen All-American team was released on Wednesday with three Atlantic 10 players being honored. One of those three players was Fordham freshman relief pitcher
Kyle Martin (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside). He was joined by Rhode Island's Vitaly Jangols and VCU's Paul Witt.
Martin becomes the first Ram to earn Freshman All-American honors since 2011, when a trio of Rams, Tim Swatek, Chris Pike, and Jonathan Reich, all earned that honor.

This is Martin's second postseason honor, as he was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team along with teammate
Alvin Melendez.
Martin tied for the team lead in wins with
Jimmy Murphy at six this season, marking the most wins by a Ram freshman since Pike had eight in 2011. He earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors once during the season and made a team-high 23 appearances, racking up a 2.76 ERA and one save in 32.2 innings with a .195 opponent batting average. Martin was also third on the team in strikeouts with 45, compared to just seven walks.
