Bronx, N.Y. – Joel Lawson, Director of Marketing at Loyola Marymount University the past two years, has been named Associate Athletic Director of Marketing, Promotions and Tickets at Fordham University it was announced today by Director of Athletic Dave Roach.

"We are excited that Joel decided to join the Fordham Athletic department," said Roach. "He brings a wealth of NCAA Division I experience and a solid background in marketing and promotions to Rose Hill. We look forward to having him on our staff." Â

In his new position, Lawson will be responsible for developing and coordinating all marketing and promotional activities for Fordham University's 22 varsity teams and design ticket marketing plans to promote fan attendance. He will also coordinate and implement all game-day promotional activities and contests and use social media to further the marketing and branding efforts of individual sports and Fordham Athletics.

A native of New York City, Lawson had been at Loyola Marymount since August of 2012, first as the Marketing Manager of External Affairs and, since August of 2015, as the Director of Marketing. His duties included developing and overseeing the implementation of annual marketing/ticketing campaigns which included; external advertising, community outreach, game day promotions, fan engagement/experience, social media marketing, licensing, branding, and sport specific marketing plans. He also was charged with strategically analyzing and adjusting campaigns to maximize revenue generation in summer camps, season ticket sales, group sales, individual sales, licensing and annual giving.

While at Loyola Marymount, Lawson also served as a guest lecturer for the Principles of Marketing Business Class and directed game and floor staff during the 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Western Regional Championship at the Staples Center.

A 2012 graduate of St. John's University with a degree in Sports Management and Business Administration, Lawson served as a marketing intern with the New York Knicks the spring semester of his senior year. He also received a Master's of Business Administration degree from Loyola Marymount in 2015 with an emphasis in Marketing and Organizational Behavior.
