Ryan Kutch finished eighth in the 5,000 meter run at the USA Track & Field Junior Championships, held in scorching temperatures at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State, Friday afternoon.
Kutch's time of 14:55.01 was just 27.59 seconds off the time of the second place finisher, which would have qualified him for the Junior World Championships in Peru.
Kutch was seeded 11
th entering the event.
The eighth place finish at junior nationals caps an incredible outdoor season for Kutch, in which he was named the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer at the Atlantic 10 Championship following his victory in the 10,000 meter run.
