Volleyball Announces 2017 Schedule

Bronx, N.Y. – Head coach Gini Ullery and the Fordham volleyball team have announced the team's 2017 schedule, comprised of four preseason tournaments, including the 15^th annual Rose Hill Classic, and 14 Atlantic 10 contests.
 
"We are excited to play a variety of opponents this Fall to really prepare us for conference play," Ullery said.
 
The Rams will begin their upcoming campaign on the road at the New Orleans Tournament and will open with Southeast Missouri State on Friday, August 25^th at 1:30 p.m. EST. In the evening, Fordham will play the hosts, at 7 p.m., and round out the weekend the following day with an 12 p.m. match-up with Alcorn State.
 
Returning the Bronx, Fordham and Manhattan will then meet for a midweek Battle of the Bronx, hosted by the Jaspers, on Wednesday, August 30^th, at 7 p.m. in Riverdale.
 
As the calendar turns to September, the Rams will host Rider, Cleveland State, Binghamton, and Marist for the 15^th annual Rose Hill Classic, and will open with Cleveland State at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 1^st, before playing Rider the next day at 1 p.m.
 
The Rams will then board a flight cross country to the home of Olivia Fairchild and Clarissa Cartledge, Arizona, for a three-game tournament appearance at Grand Canyon University. Fordham will play the hosts on Friday, September 8^th, at 10 p.m. EST in Phoenix and then a Saturday doubleheader, beginning at 3 p.m., against Idaho and Gonzaga.
 
The following weekend brings a new local tournament, the Battle of the Big Apple, contested between Fordham, Columbia, St. Francis Brooklyn, and LIU Brooklyn to round out the preseason schedule. All three of Fordham's matches will be hosted by Columbia. The Rams will play the Lions on Friday, September 15^th, at 7 p.m., before another Saturday doubleheader against the two Brooklyn schools.
 
Atlantic 10 play begins the following weekend and makes up the remaining 14 contests on the regular season schedule. The Rams will begin on the road, at Davidson and VCU, on September 22^nd at 7 p.m. and September 24^th at 12 p.m., respectively, before returning home for a four-match homestand.
 
Beginning on Friday, September 29^th at noon, the Rams will host George Mason, George Washington, Dayton, and Saint Louis across two weekends, with the latter three matches set for October 1^st, October 6^th, and October 7^th, respectively. Fordham will then play at La Salle and Duquesne on October 13^th and October 15^th, before rounding out the home portion of its schedule with contests against VCU, Davidson, and Rhode Island inside the Rose Hill Gym on October 20^th, 22^nd, and 27^th, respectively.
 
The Rams will finish up the regular season with three matches on the road, at Saint Louis on November 3^rd, at Dayton on November 5^th, and the following Friday, November 10^th, at Rhode Island.
 
The 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship will be played out over three days, November 17-19, and will be hosted by Duquesne.
 
The Rams are coming off an 11-18 overall record, including a 4-10 mark in conference play, the top marks under Coach Ullery's tenure, and feature a squad returning A-10 and ECAC Rookie of the Year Fairchild and 12 other players, with only senior Kristen Ostach graduating. The team will welcome one incoming player, freshman outside hitter McKenna Lahr.
