Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University defensive lineman
Justin Vaughn was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 Canadian Football League by the Hamilton Tiger Cats on Sunday in Toronto.
Vaughn, a first team All-Patriot League selection last fall, received the 2016 Fordham Football Defensive Player of the Year award. He finished with the year with 40 total tackles, 29 solo, including a team-high 11.0 for loss, and 4.0 sacks. He also notched six quarterback hurries and one pass break up as well as blocking one kick. Vaughn was sixth in the Patriot League in tackles for loss per game and 12th in sacks per game.
Vaughn closed out his Fordham career by appearing in 41 games and making 84 total tackles, 51 solo, including 21.0 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
Vaughn will become the second Ram in the past 12 years to play for the Tiger Cats, joining Fordham Athletic Hall of Famer Tad Kornegay, who signed with Hamilton as a free agent in 2005. Kornegay played the first two of his eight years in the CFL with the Tigers Cats.
