Track & Field Wraps Up Stay at A-10 Championship

Fairfax, Va. - The Fordham track & field team wrapped up their stay at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Sunday at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.  The Fordham men finished tenth with 20 points, while the women were 13th with 8 points.

On the men's side Rhode Island won the team title with 201.5 points, seven ahead of second place finisher, and defending champion, George Mason. Massachusetts took third with 123 points followed by Saint Louis (75), VCU (68), Duquesne (50), Saint Joseph's (45.5), La Salle (40), Davidson (35), Fordham (20) and George Washington (5).

Fordham freshman Ryan Kutch was named Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer after earning first place in the 10,000 meter run on Saturday.
Thomas Slattery finished 7th in 5,000 meter run


Junior Thomas Slattery was the top finisher on the men's side, placing seventh in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 14:33.85.

The Rams scored in two other events on day two. The 4x100 relay team finished eighth in 43.45 seconds, while the 4x800 relay also finished eighth in a time of 7:45.71.

On the women's side, George Mason won the team title with 118 points, edging day one leader Duquesne by six points. Dayton took third with 105 points followed by VCU (97.5), Massachusetts (93.5), Rhode Island (93.5), Saint Joseph's (61.5), Davidson (58), Richmond (40), Saint Louis (27), La Salle (26), George Washington (17) and Fordham (8).
 
Sydney Snow finished 12th in 1,500 meter run
The Rams scored in one event on day two as the 4x800 relay team took sixth in a time of 9:02.38.

Fordham narrowly missed scoring in two other relays as the 4x400 relay took ninth in a time of 3:54.29 and the 4x100 relay finished 10th in 48.75 seconds.

The Rams will next be in action at the ECAC/IC4A Championship May 13-14 in Princeton N.J.
