Volleyball Adds Two More for 2017 Season

Gini Ullery and Rams Will Welcome Alena Cashdan and Sophia Plett this Fall

Bronx, N.Y. – Head coach Gini Ullery and the Fordham volleyball program have today announced the additions of two players for the 2017 fall season, Alena Cashdan and Sophia Plett. The pair will join McKenna Lahr as the three new faces in Coach Ullery's squad this year, which returns all but one player from last year's team.

"Alena and Sophia will compliment to McKenna in this class and we are looking forward to their competitive drive from the moment they step on campus," said Coach Ullery.

Cashdan is a 5'7 libero/DS from Atlanta, Ga. She spent four years at Marist School and lettering in all four years for the War Eagles. She earned All-Area honors her first three years and All-State as a junior. Her sophomore season, Marist reached the Georgia 4A State Championship game but it wasn't until her junior year that Cashdan, serving as team captain, and the War Eagles took home the title. Cashdan also plays at the club level with A5 Volleyball, finishing her U14, U17, and U18 campaigns in the top-10 nationwide and within the top-20 with the U15s and U16s. Off the court, Cashdan is an honor roll student as a junior and senior.

"Plett adds depth at our setting position and her height and speed will help her make an impact from day one."

The Rams open up their 2017 campaign at the New Orleans Tournament, beginning with a doubleheader against Southeast Missouri State at 1:30 p.m. and the hosts later in the day, at 7 p.m. The team's first home game will be the opening match of the 15th annual Rose Hill Classic, against Cleveland State on September 1 at 2 p.m.
