Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its final set of baseball weekly awards on Monday with Fordham's
Mark Donadio being named Player of the Week and
Jimmy Murphy taking co-Pitcher of the Week honors. For Donadio, it is his second career weekly honor, while it is the second Pitcher of the Week award this season for Murphy.
Donadio ended his fine Fordham career by hitting .583 (7-12) over his final four games with an on-base percentage of .700 and slugging percentage of .750. He had three multi-hit games over the last four contests, while adding two doubles, four walks, and five RBI. Donadio started the week, going 2-for-4 with the game-winning two-run single against Iona on Tuesday. On Thursday, he was 1-for-2 with a double and scored the game-winning run in a win over St. Bonaventure, and followed with two hits and an RBI in Friday's loss to the Bonnies. In the season finale, he was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base.
Donadio ended his career fourth on Fordham's career games played list (208), seventh in at bats (724), and 12
th in hits (210), and joined Rich Goulian and Brian Kownacki as the only three Rams to reach 200 games played, 200 hits, and 100 RBI in their career.
Murphy ended his career with his third complete game of the season and his career-best sixth win of the year. He threw a complete game, five-hitter, allowing one run and striking out six in a 2-1 win at St. Bonaventure, handing SBU pitcher Aaron Phillips, his first loss of the season (9-1).
For the season, Murphy's 93.2 innings pitched tied for the eighth highest mark at Fordham, while his 85 strikeouts are tied for ninth. In the career record book, Murphy is seventh in career appearances (71), 11
th in games started (32), 11
th in innings pitched (245.0), and 11
th in strikeouts (191).
