Trio of Rams Earn CSA Scholar-Athlete Awards

Seniors Sahil Bahri and Jimmy Shinnick & Junior John Lennon Earn Academic Honor

Northampton, Mass. -  Each year, the Men's College Squash Association recognizes its top varsity and club student athletes.  For the 2016-17 season, 50 varsity players were recognized as CSA Scholar-Athletes, three of which were Fordham's Jimmy Shinnick, Sahil Bahri, and John Lennon.

In general, there is a time commitment difference (practices, matches, travel, etc.) between varsity and club teams. Therefore, the CSA has two versions of this award: Scholar Athletes (varsity players) and Academic Recognition (club players).

For varsity teams, student-athletes must be a two-time varsity letterwinner at the school,
post a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, be a junior or senior, and play a top-10 ladder position for the majority of scheduled CSA sanctioned matches during the season.

Shinnick, an International Political Economy major with a 3.78 GPA, competed for the Rams at the fourth and fifth slots this season, posting an overall record of 14-5.  He ranked second in wins behind only Peter Yuen's 15 this season.  He finished his career with 41-37 record

Bahri, a Finance major with a 3.78 GPA, competed for the Rams at the sixth through ninth slots this season, posting an overall record of 8-2.  At the sixth position, he was a perfect 5-0 on the year and ended his two-year stint at Fordham with a 16-12 mark.

Lennon, a Finance major with a 3.86 GPA, was primarily the Rams #3 player in the stepladder.  He was 10-7 in those matches this season and added two more wins at the #4 position.  His 12 wins overall ranked third on the team, behind Yuen and Shinnick.

All three players were important parts of the Rams' run to the championship match of the Serues Cup at this year's CSA Team Championship.
