Kingston, R.I. – The Fordham women's tennis team completed the weekend sweep of its conference opponents as they edged Rhode Island 4-3 at the Hassenfeld Tennis Complex in Kingston, Rhode Island.
The Rams earned what would be a crucial doubles point as
Carina Ma and
Estelle Wong defeated Emily Zargham and Rachel Smilansky 7-5 in first doubles and
Mayu Sato and
Alexis Zobeideh cruised past Ariel Haber and Paige Alshon 6-1 in third doubles.
In singles play,
Estelle Wong defeated Emily Zargham to clinch the match 7-6 (8), 7-5 in second singles,
Gianna Insogna defeated Ariel Haber 6-1, 6-3 in fifth singles and
Destiny Grunin bested Jordan Rucks 6-3, 6-1 in sixth singles.Â
The Rams return to action April 15 as they travel to Jamaica, N.Y. to face St. John's.
