Fairfax, Va. - The Fordham track & Field team was back in Virginia for the third straight week on Saturday at the Mason Spring Invitational in Fairfax, Virginia.
The highlight of the day for the Rams came in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase where sophomore
Laurel Fisher took first place in a time of 11:07.12.
Also finishing in the top ten for Fordham were
Louis Santelli and
Michael Petersen who finished second and third in the 800 meter run with times of 1:52.59 and 1:52.83, respectively,
Brian Cook who placed seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:48.99 and
Nicholas Regan, who took fourth in the javelin, tossing a throw of 57.16 meters.

In other men's events,
Richard Webber was the only runner in the 100 meter dash, taking 21
st overall in 11.06 seconds, while
Jared Benn was the lone competitor in the 400 meter dash, taking 11
th in 49.60 seconds. Webber and Benn also had top-30 times in the 200 meter dash, placing 26
th and 29
th with times of 22.44 and 22.58 seconds, respectively.
The Rams final competitors were a quartet of runners in the 1500 meters.
Thomas Slattery had the best time of 3:57.62, which was good for 37
th overall, followed by
Fritz Heinrich in 43
rd (3:59.62),
Sean Phillips in 59
th (4:01.61) and
Devin Rocks in 62
nd (4:01.97).
On the women's side,
Nkeka Pinheiro was the only runner in the 400 meter dash, taking 13
th overall in 57.59 seconds,
Morgan Menzzasalma finished 21
st in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:07.26 and
Shanna Heaney finished 21
st in the 1,500 meter run in 4:42.33.
In the 200 meter dash, Pinheiro took 17
th overall in 25.70 seconds while
Mary Kate Kenny finished right behind Pinheiro in 18
th place in a time of 25.80.
In the 800 meter run,
Merissa Wright was the Rams' top finisher in 15
th place (2:13.65) followed by
Aidan Moroz in 34
th (2:19.75).
In the field events,
Gabriella Gavalas finished 13
th in the triple jump at 11.35 meters and 14
th in the long jump at 5.38 meters.
Fordham had one relay team in action as the women's 4x100 relay of Gavalas, Pinheiro, Kenny and Menzzasalma took 11
th in a time of 49.91 seconds.
The Fordham men placed 12
th in the team standings with 21 points, while the women took 20
th with 10 points.
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on April 14-15 at the Metropolitan Championship in Piscataway, N.J.
