Orlando, Fla. – The Fordham golf team sits in eighth place after one day of competition at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championships at the Grand Cypress Golf Club.
Richmond and George Washington are tied for the lead in the team standings with a fifteen-under par 273 after 18 holes, followed by VCU (279), Dayton (283), George Mason (285), Davidson (285), Saint Joseph's (287), Fordham (288), Rhode Island (289), La Salle (291) and St. Bonaventure (294).
Junior
Joseph Trim and senior
Oscar Cabanas led the way for the Rams, both firing rounds under par. Trim shot an opening round 69 and is currently in a tie for ninth place, while Cabanas turned in a one-under par 71 and is tied for 19
th.
Matt Schiller and
Tomas Nieves each shot opening rounds of 74, good for a tie for 38
th place and
James Mongey sits in a tie for 51
st place after a first round 78.
The championship continues with 18 holes on Saturday.
