Joseph Chartouny and Christian Sengfelder Named to 2017 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team

Sengfelder honored for second straight year

2017 Atlantic 10 Postseason Awards
 
Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University junior forward Christian Sengfelder and sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny were named to the 2017 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team it was announced by the league office today. It is the second straight year that Sengfelder has been named to the team while Chartouny is honored in his first year of eligibility (freshmen are not eligible for the team).
 
To be named to All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve and possess a GPA of 3.00 or better. The team is voted on by the Atlantic 10 Sports Information Directors.
 
Sengfelder, who was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 this year, has started all 31 games for the Rams, averaging 12.1 ppg and a team-high 5.1 rpg. He has connected on a team-high 71 three-pointers in 2016-2017, tied for the ninth most in a single season by a Fordham player. Sengfelder also has 30 steals and 13 blocks this winter and has a team-best five 20-point games.
 
Over his career, Sengfelder has hit 159 three-pointers, good for ninth on the school's all-time list.
 
Academically, Sengfelder, a Psychology major, recorded a perfect 4.00 GPA for the 2016 Fall semester and is on track to graduate in just three years.  
 
Chartouny, the 2016 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, is third on the Fordham squad in scoring, averaging 11.9 ppg to go with 4.1 rpg. He is second in the NCAA in steals per game, averaging 3.36, and fifth in total steals with 94. Chartouny set a new school record for steals in a season with the 94 so far in 2016-2017 (former mark was 78 by Jason Harris in 1999-2000). He also leads the Rams with 140 assists (5.0/game), ranking third in the Atlantic 10 and 50th in the NCAA in assists/game.
 
Academically, Chartouny is a Business Administration major at Fordham.
 
The Rams, seeded tenth, open play at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday night, March 9, as they face the sixth-seeded George Mason University Patriots at 6:00 p.m. at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. The game will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network.
