Fairfax, Va. – Competition at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship has concluded at George Mason's Field House in Fairfax, Virginia, with the Fordham Rams taking sixth in the team competition.
George Mason captured the team title with 214 points, followed by Rhode Island (155.5), Massachusetts (68.5), Saint Louis (66), Davidson (65.6), Fordham (58.5), Saint Joseph's (54), VCU (50), La Salle (43) and George Washington (4).
Jared Benn placed fourth
in the 500 meter run.
Fordham had a very successful day two, capturing gold in three different events which began in the mile run with
Brian Cook winning the event in an Atlantic 10 championship meet record time of 4:09.11.
Thomas Slattery won gold in the 3,000 meter run in a time of 8:27.82. The day wrapped up with Fordham's 4x800 meter relay team of Cook,
Fritz Heinrich,
Michael Petersen and
Louis Santelli taking the top spot on the podium in a time of 7:38.91.
Five other other Rams scored on day two, beginning in the 800 meter run, with
Louis Santelli and
Michael Petersen placing second and third overall in times of 1:53.40 and 1:53.41, respectively.
Jared Benn placed fourth in the 500 meter run in a season-best time of 1:04.66,
Richard Webber finished eighth in the 60 meter dash in 7.05 and
Ryan Kutch placed eighth in the 3,000 meter run in a season-best 8:34.04.
Thomas Slattery took gold in the
3,000 meter run on Sunday.
Other individual competitors for Fordham included
Nik O'Brien who placed 15
th in the mile in a time of 4:23.45 and
Jake Duckworth (20
th – 9:01.98) in the 3,000 meter run. In the field events,
Andrew Byrne placed tenth in the high jump, clearing 6' ½" and
Ryan Riviere finished 10
th in the heptathlon with 3,853 points.
The last scoring event for Fordham was the 4x400 relay where
Jared Benn,
Richard Webber,
Eddie Dehais and Andre Guthrie, placed seventh in a time of 3:24.66.
