Men's Tennis Splits Doubleheader

Harrison, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis team split its matches Sunday at Life Time Athletic, defeating Wagner 3-2 and falling to Marist 4-1.

Both matches utilized a 4-1 format, meaning each team played four singles and one doubles match simultaneously.

Wagner started the match taking the doubles point as Charlton Boyd and Ilya Kneppelhout defeated Allen Thornes and Jeremy Chung 6-4, 6-4.

In singles play, Tomas Cosmai defeated Anatoliy Lashkul 6-4, 6-2 in first singles, Victor Li defeated Dale Sandy 6-7 (5), 7-5, 6-2 and Nick Borak beat Siddharth Anand 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-2 in fourth singles. Fabian Mauritzson fell to Dylan Walters 6-4, 6-1 in third singles.

It was a different story against Marist as the Red Foxes took all but one match.

Fordham dropped the doubles match as Nick Borak and Jeremy Chung fell to Justin Chanthalangsy and Dylan Fletcher 6-3, 6-1. In singles play, Fabian Mauritzson won his singles match to 6-1, 6-3 to claim a point for Fordham.

"I'm really pleased with the way we pulled out the victory against Wagner," head coach Mike Sowter said. "We were down 2-1 but Victor and Nick both battled back after losing the first set to win both of their matches in three sets. We showed a lot of grit and determination tonight and I'm really proud of all our guys."

The Rams return to action February 25 as they host conference foe Saint Louis at Life Time Athletic.
