On Wednesday, March 1st, the Fifth Annual New York City Soccer Gala will be held at the New York Athletic Club. Among the honorees at this year's event will be Fordham men's soccer alumnus, Chris Donovan '92.
Â
The New York City Soccer Gala was formulated by the Division I men's soccer programs of New York City. Soccer in New York City has a rich history and the Gala's goal is to highlight and show appreciation to all those who have devoted their lives to enhancing the game of soccer.

Donovan is the fifth Ram to be honored at the event joining his former coach Frank Schnur (2013), Mark Lugris '83 (2014), Jack Shannon '85 (2015), and John Wolyniec '99 (2016).
Â
After transferring to Fordham from Nassau Community College, Donovan was a defender for the Rams from 1989-91, appearing in 56 games on the backline, netting a goal and four assists for six points. After being team MVP in 1989, he helped lead Fordham to a 10-7-1 record in 1990 and a spot in the inaugural Patriot League Championship. The Rams would post shutout wins over Colgate and Lafayette to win the league title with Donovan being named the Championship's Most Valuable Player.

Following his graduation, Donovan has worked for R.R. Donnelly & Sons, a printing and communications company, and lives with his family on Long Island.
