Men’s Basketball Travels to Rutgers on Tuesday

Rams to play first true road game of the year

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Piscataway, N.J., to face the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights in the Rutgers Athletic Center on Saturday, December 12, at 7:00 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast live on ESPNU with Dave Leno (p-b-p) and Julianne Viani (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with James Corrigan (p-b-p) and Vinny DeBellis (color) announcing.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 4-5 record after a 76-68 win over St. Francis (NY) in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon while Rutgers is 8-3 after a 92-54 win over FDU at the RAC on Saturday.
 
Tuesday night's contest will be the 54th meeting between Fordham and Rutgers on the hardwood. The Rams lead the all-time series, 27-26, but the Scarlet Knights have taken the past four meetings, including a 68-53 win last De­cember at Madison Square Garden.
 
Notes
 
• Senior guard Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (17.0 ppg), has scored in double figures in each of the nine games this year.
 
• Junior guard Joseph Chartouny notched his fifth career double-double in the win over Maine last Saturday with 21 points and eleven rebounds, matching his career-high for rebounds.
 
• Chartouny leads the Atlantic 10 and is second in the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.78.
 
• Chartouny has 184 career steals, good for seventh on the Fordham all-time list.
 
• Chartouny has 338 career helpers, tenth-best in school history.
 
• The 2017-2018 Rams lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense (63.7) and are second in three-point field goal percentage defense (.288), 28th best in the nation.
 
• Fordham also leads the league in steals with 103 (11.4/game).
