Bridgeport, Pa. – (November 9, 2017) - The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Thursday with Fordham sophomore driver
Jake Miller-Tolt (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) being selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Week. It is his second award this season and the third weekly award of his career.
Miller-Tolt was a defensive juggernaut for Fordham in its final weekend of conference play at home, totaling 23 steals over five games. He opened the week with three goals, three steals, and a career-high four assists in a 15-14 sudden-death loss to Wagner College. He was then a difference maker on defense against the United States Naval Academy, tallying a career-high eight steals along with two goals and tying a career-high four assists in the 12-8 victory.
His weekend continued with a hat trick along with five steals and two assists in an 11-9 loss to George Washington. In the final games on Sunday, Miller-Tolt notched his third hat trick of the week, backed by four steals in an 11-8 victory of Johns Hopkins University, while notching three steals along with a goal and an assist in a narrow 8-6 defeat to #18 Bucknell.
Miller-Tolt and the rest of the Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Thursday, November 9
th, when the Rams host #16 St. Francis Brooklyn at the Messmore Aquatic Center for Senior Night, beginning at 7:30 PM.
