Bronx, N.Y. - Following his performance in the regular season finale against UMass and the Atlantic 10 quarterfinal at Dayton, Fordham senior
Jannik Loebe (Kierspe, Germany) was selected to the College Soccer News Team of the Week for games ending November 5
th. This marks the second time a Fordham player was named to the Team of the Week, as
Jacob Bohm did so two weeks ago.
Loebe came up big for the Rams in their Atlantic 10 quarterfinal against Dayton on Saturday. He drove in the game-winning goal into the back of the frame for his sixth goal of the season after receiving a cross from
Janos Loebe to give Fordham a 3-2 win. Jannik has now scored in each of the last four Atlantic 10 Championships. He also contributed an assist in Fordham's 3-2 win over then-#25 UMass in the Rams' final regular season contest.
The two victories propelled Fordham men's soccer upwards in the NCAA RPI rankings, as well as in the National Top 30 and Regional Polls.
Fordham is in the receiving votes section of both the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll and the College Soccer News Top 30 Poll. The Rams also moved up from tenth in the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region Poll to seventh.
In the NCAA RPI rankings, the Rams have slid up from #34 last week to #24 in this week's RPI report. Fordham is one of four Atlantic 10 teams in the top 34 teams, along with VCU (#19), UMass (#27), and Rhode Island (#34).
All four of those teams will meet at Baujan Field in Dayton, Ohio, this weekend for the semifinals and final of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship. Fordham plays top-seeded UMass on Friday at 4:30 PM, followed by Rhode Island-VCU at 7:00 PM. The two winners will play for the Atlantic 10 crown on Sunday, November 12
th, starting noon.
