Men’s Basketball Drops Fredonia in Exhibition Win

Tre Evans leads Rams with 19 points

Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham men's basketball fans got a glimpse of what's ahead for the 2017-2018 season tonight as the Rams unleashed a barrage of three-pointers, hitting what would have been a school-record 17 long distance shots, to defeated Fredonia State University, 79-41, in an exhibition game in the Rose Hill Gym.
 
Over the past two years Fordham set and reset the school record for three-pointers attempted and if tonight was any indication that record will fall again this year. The Rams attempted 43 three-point shots against the Blue Devils, attempting just 19 shots from inside the arc.
 
Fredonia State took an early 2-0 lead, scoring just under two minutes into the game, before the Rams responded with a 24-4 burst to take a commanding 18-point lead 8:20 into the game.
 
Sophomore transfer Tre Evans, appearing in his first game as a Ram, led all scorers in the game with 19 points, shooting 5-for-9, from behind the arc, and he added seven rebounds and three assists while freshman Ivan Raut, also appearing in a Fordham uniform for the first time, added eleven points.
 
Takeaways
 
The game was the first exhibition game for the Rams since a 2013 exhibition against Mercy.
 
Perris Hicks, who was also playing in his first game in a Fordham uniform, led the Rams with four assists.

The Rams open the 2017-2018 season next Friday, November 10, as they host the Miami University RedHawks in the Rose Hill Gym at 7:00 p.m. as part of the 2017 Jamaica Classic - Montego Bay Classic.
 
It will be just the second meeting between the two schools with Fordham wining the first, 67-60, at the 1956 Cincinnati Invitational.
