Newport News, Va. – (November 21, 2017) – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly swimming & diving awards on Tuesday with Fordham sophomore
Amelia Bullock (Westport, Conn.) being named Women's Performer of the Week, while freshman
Michelle Martin (Monterey Park, Calif.) was selected as Co-Rookie of the Week. This is Bullock's second career weekly award and first of the season, while being Martin's first.
Bullock helped the Rams finish fourth at the Bucknell Invitational. The sophomore finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (54.15) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.66). Both times in those events were career-best and season-best times for her, while her 200 butterfly time was an NCAA "B" cut time. She added a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.36, as well as a ninth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke, finishing the event in 1:04.57. Bullock was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that took fourth in a season-best time of 1:44.55 and the 400-yard medley relay team that finished fifth (3:49.55).
Martin kicked off the Invitational with the 200 freestyle relay that took first in a season-best time of 1:33.67. She won the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 23.10 seconds. Martin took home seventh-place in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 56.05 seconds. She followed that up with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing the event in 55.82 seconds. Martin was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that took fourth in a season-best time of 1:44.55, 400-yard medley relay team that finished fifth (3:49.55), and capped the invitational with a second place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a season-best time of 3:26.96.
