Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 announced its end-of-season awards on Thursday morning and, for the second straight year, the Fordham volleyball team had representatives on the Second Team and All-Rookie team. Sophomore
Olivia Fairchild was named both Second Team All-Conference and an All-Academic selection, while freshman outside hitter
McKenna Lahr earned All-Rookie recognition.
Fairchild, a 2016 Second Team and All-Rookie selection, led the Atlantic 10 with 350 kills and 3.57 kills per set, and finished second in the country with 63 aces and 0.64 aces per set. The sophomore also finished second on the team with 226 digs, 2.31 per set, and second with 45 block assists and 47 total blocks. Her .253 attack percentage ranked 13
th in the A-10, as well. Fairchild was named to the All-Tournament squad in all four of Fordham's tournaments this season and was named A-10 Player of the Week on two occasions.
The Phoenix native finishes her second year in the Bronx tops in career kills per set, 3.96 per game over her career. Fordham Hall of Famer Val Bosticco's mark of 3.30 is next-best. So does her 0.57 aces per set mark, ranking .03 more than Jenn Shea ('94). Fairchild's 120 career aces rank seventh all-time, and her .238 career hit percentage sits 10
th. The sophomore will enter her junior year just 173 kills shy of 1,000.
Lahr enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign in the Bronx, tallying 192 kills on the year to place second amongst her teammates, while adding 39 aces and 190 digs. The aces rank 54
th in the country, while her 0.49 aces per set mark ranks 11
th. Within the Atlantic 10, those rank third for both, respectively. Lahr became the third Ram in program history to earn at least three conference Rookie of the Week nods, joining Fairchild and Christi Griffiths ('08), and makes it back-to-back seasons for Fordham represented on the All-Rookie squad.
The Rams finished their 2017 campaign with a 12-15 overall record and a 4-10 mark in conference action, finishing seventh for the second year in a row.
