Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's basketball program has teamed up with Hofstra University for an exhibition contest on Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at the Rose Hill Gym, with all proceeds going towards Unidos Por Puerto Rico, a charity set up to provide aid and support to those affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The Fordham men's basketball team, already scheduled for its own exhibition against Fredonia at 7 p.m., will continue to collect donations throughout the contest.
Â
There are no ticket sales for either exhibition contest. The games are open to the public.
Â
All are encouraged to donate at the link above, and all who attend will have the chance to donate in-person, as well, at the main entrance.

Head coach
Stephanie Gaitley: "We are excited to take advantage of the opportunity to add a third scrimmage to our schedule. We thank Hofstra for teaming up with us for a great cause. It's a win-win situation. Raise money for the less fortunate and get game experience."
Â
In addition, the Harry Vanderslice Memorial Fund, created in honor of Coach Gaitley's late father, will match donations raised up to $1,000. Hofstra has one player directly affected by the hurricanes, senior guard, Aleana Leon, who hails from the city of Ponce. Leon was recently named a preseason All-Colonial Athletic Association honorable mention.
Â
Both the men's and women's teams begin their regular seasons next Friday, November 10, in a doubleheader at the Rose Hill Gym. The women will host UMBC at 5 p.m., followed by the men hosting Miami (Ohio).
