Alex Jahns Named MAWPC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

Senior Goalkeeper Totaled 20 Saves and Five Steals in Three Victories

Bridgeport, Pa. – The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Thursday with Fordham senior goalkeeper Alex Jahns (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) being selected as the league's Co-Defensive Player of the Week.  It is his second award this season and the fourth of his career.

Jahns backstopped the 20th-ranked Fordham Rams to a 3-0 record this past week.  He totaled 20 saves, five steals, and two assists in eight quarters of action.

Jahns opened the weekend with a seven-save effort in a league victory over Wagner College, 10-9. He followed this strong performance up with four saves, two assists, and five steals in just two quarters of a 14-5 victory over Mercyhurst.  Jahns also made a whopping nine saves in just two quarters of action in a 12-5 victory over Salem International.

Jahns and the rest of the Fordham water polo team will next be in action on later tonight as the Rams travel up to New Rochelle, N.Y., to face longtime rival Iona College in the annual Judge Cup game, starting at 7:30 PM.  Live video and live stats will be available for the game.
