Results

New Haven, Conn. - The Fordham men's tennis team competed at the ITA Northeast Championships, hosted by Yale where Fabian Hansch Mauritzson and Lutwin de Macar advanced to the round of 16 in the doubles draw.

Mauritzson and de Macar opened play defeated Pennsylvania's Josh Pompan and RJ Sands 8-5 in the round of 64 before upsetting the tournament's third and fourth ranked players from Princeton, Ryan Seggerman and Luke Gamble 8-5 in the round of 32. They then fell to Dartmouth's David Horneffer and Dan Martin 8-2 in the round of 16.

In singles play, Mauritzson fell to Saint Francis' Franz Luna 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round.

Head coach Mike Sowter was very pleased with Mauritzson and de Macar's performances, particularly in their upset victory over Princeton on Friday.

"I'm really pleased for Lutwin and Fabian," Sowter said. "They have good chemistry, work exceptionally hard, and have had some good results together this fall. It's not often that you win back-to-back matches against Ivy League opponents."

The Rams return to action November 4-5 when they host the Fordham UTR Invitational at Hawthorn Rooney Courts.
