Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its weekly men's soccer awards on Monday
with Fordham junior goalkeeper
Rashid Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) earning Defensive Player of the Week honors for the third time this season, while freshman
Jacob Bohm (Berlin, Germany) was named Rookie of the Week for the first time.
This is Nuhu's sixth career weekly honor, while being the first for Bohm.
Nuhu registered back-to-back shutouts this past week against St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's, bringing his season total to nine, which is tied for second in the nation with Michigan State's Jimmy Hague. Only Indiana's Trey Muse has more this season with 12.
He improved to 9-3-2 on the season, lowering his league-best goals against average to 0.48, which also ranks seventh in the country. His best performance of the week came on Saturday, as he made a season-high six saves in a 1-0 win over the Hawks.
The 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's came courtesy of a game-winning goal by Bohm in the 26
th minute, as he snuck a shot from 14 yards out inside the right post. It was his second straight week with a game-winning goal, as he netted the deciding marker against La Salle, back on October 4
th.
Nuhu, Bohm, and the rest of the Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, October 21
st, when the Rams travel to Kingston, Rhode Island, for a 7:00 PM showdown with the Rhode Island Rams. Entering this week's action, Fordham and Rhode Island are tied with UMass for first place in the standings with URI and UMass playing each other on Wednesday afternoon.
