Cross Country Wins SJC Long Island Invitational

Ram Men, Women Win Team Titles

Kings Park, N.Y. - Members of the Fordham cross country teams competed at the SJC Long Island Invitational, held at Sunken Meadow State Park on Sunday, where the men and women both placed first in the team competition.

Fordham won the men's team title with a total score of 25, followed by Suffolk CC (72), SUNY Maritime (111), Kingsborough (116), Mount St. Mary (148), Baruch (135), Nassau CC (188), Bergen CC (203), Farmingdale St. (249), Sarah Lawrence (334), Queens College (356), Queensborough CC (417), Bridgeport (422), Brooklyn (423), Mt. St. Vincent (430), Old Westbury (451), John Jay (454), Vaughn (460), Medgar Evers (472), St. Joseph's College (532) and CIA-Steels (560).

Freshman Christopher Strzelinski led the way for the Rams on the men's side, finishing third in the 8,000 meter run in a time of 27:24.71. Crossing the line next for the Rams was Patrick Donahue who placed fifth in 27:57.57, followed by Thomas Fitzpatrcik (9th – 28:29.08), Marc Guberti (10th – 28:32.38), Will Whelan (11th – 28:33.84), Patrick Norako (19th – 29:10.42), Phil Robbins (20th – 29:15.46), Dylan Serino (33rd – 30:06.58), Kevin Dineen (45th – 30:58.48) and Robert Zisselman (78th – 32:58.34).

The Fordham women also took first in the team competition with a total score of 44, followed by Farmingdale St. (76), St. Joseph's College (85), Sarah Lawrence (152), Queens College (158), Mount St. Mary (175), Mt. St. Vincent (206), Fashion Institute (206), Kingsborough (239), SUNY Maritime (265), CIA-Steele (273), Brooklyn (390), Medgar Evers (392), Staten Island (396), Baruch (405), Old Westbury (414), Bridgeport (431) and New Rochelle (519).

Individually, Kieran Hanrahan led the way for the Ram women, finishing fifth in the 5,000 meter run in 20:33.56. She was followed by Maeve O'Connor (6th – 20:41.31), Elizabeth Morisseau (10th – 20:57.05), Bridget White (11th – 21:01.84), Germaine Harbaugh (12th – 21:14.95), Julia Herms (13th – 21:16.17), Isabel Huelskamp (14th – 21:20.81), Dana Beggins (15th – 21:24.45), Maiya Larsen (21st – 21:45.93), Kate Schulten (24th – 22:00.35) and Erin Foley (30th – 22:25.51).

The Rams return to action October 28 at the Atlantic 10 Championship, held at George Mason University.
