Bridgeport, Pa. – (October 11, 2017) - The CWPA's Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) weekly awards were released on Thursday with Fordham sophomore driver
Jake Miller-Tolt (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa) being selected as the league's Offensive Player of the Week. It is his first award this season and the second weekly award of his career.
Miller-Tolt helped Fordham to a 4-2 record this past weekend during the Rams' west coast road trip. He had a big week, scoring 19 goals to go along with 18 steals, five assists, and seven blocks.
Miller-Tolt scored one goal and provided two assists, while tying a career-high six steals in a 11-6 victory over Division III No. 6 Redlands in a Thursday, October 6 tilt.
Over the weekend, the Rams traveled to Claremont, California to participate in the Gary Troyer Tournament, and Miller-Tolt opened the weekend by scoring three goals and adding an assist, five steals, and two blocks in a 12-9 loss to #15 California Baptist.
Miller-Tolt exploded in the second game of the tournament, registering a season-high six goals along with an assist and four steals in a 13-4 victory over Occidental College. In the very next match, Miller-Tolt matched his season-high six goals, along with two steals and two blocks in a 14-9 victory over La Verne. In the final match, Miller-Tolt posted two goals and an assist in a 13-10 loss to Fresno Pacific.
For the year, Miller-Tolt ranks first on the team with 50 steals and 27 assists, while ranking second in goals (36) and points (63).
Miller-Tolt and the rest of the Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Thursday, October 18
th, when the Rams host Wagner at the Messmore Aquatic Center, beginning at 7:30 PM.
