Five Softball Student-Athletes Earn NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

Rams Have Fourth-Most Represenatives Among 10 Atlantic 10 Schools

Louisville, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has today announced a record 7,351 softball players across its seven membership divisions have earned All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-17 academic year. The Fordham softball team had five representatives: Sydney Canessa, Lauren Quense, Chelsea Skrepenak, Maria Trivelpiece, and Amy Van Hoven. Canessa and Van Hoven have since graduated.
 
Divison I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes all earning a 3.5 grade-point average or better. Behind them were 1,825 in Division III, 1,268 in Division II, 751 and 609 in high school and high school unweighted, respectively, 559 NAIA representatives, and 496 in the Junior College ranks.
 
Fordham has the fourth-highest number of honorees among 10 Atlantic 10 schools.
