West Harrison, N.Y. – The Fordham men's tennis squad opened its 2017 spring season with a 7-0 loss to Davidson College at Lifetime Time Athletic.
Fordham opened the match dropping the doubles point as
Tomas Cosmai and
Allen Thornes fell to Axel Fries and J.B. Gough at first doubles, 6-2, and
Fabian Mauritzson and
Nick Borak lost to Shamael Chaudry and Jack Riazzi at the second position, 6-1.
Victor Li and
Jeremy Chung were tied 3-3 with Artem Khrapko and David Hager at third doubles when the match was halted.
In singles play, Thornes came closest to earning a point for the Rams, taking the first set from Jordan Hart, 6-4, before dropping the second, 6-2. The two played a tiebreaking third set with Hart edging Thornes, 10-8.
The Rams return to action on Sunday, February 5, as tey travel to Jersey City, N.J, to face Saint Peter's University.
