Head Coach Jeff Neubauer Has Fordham Pointed in Right Direction

Rams have won three of the past four

Listen to Neubauer's Weekly A-10 Conference Call

Bronx, N.Y. – Over the first three Atlantic 10 games of 2017, Fordham fans thought they were seeing a set of alternate facts as the Rams didn't seem to be themselves, especially on the defensive end. But head coach Jeff Neubauer has brought things back to reality as the Ram defense has reappeared, allowing Fordham to win three of the past four games, including road contests at Davidson and UMass and an overtime win over VCU at home.

"This win is a credit to our team, not one individual," said Neubauer following the UMass game. "The fact that we are still competing and playing so hard is a credit to our team. For us to fight after going through such a hard time, I'm really impressed with our guys."

Over the first three conference games this winter, the Rams were playing without their usual distracting defense, allowing opponents to score 75.0 points per game and forcing only 13.3 turnovers/game. But Neubauer has Fordham playing defense again, holding the last four opponents to scoring 65.5 points per game and forcing 18.3 turnovers per game, including 8.0 steals/game.

It's not just the turnovers that has aided the Rams over the past four games as Fordham has hit the boards with a fury, outrebounding opponents 33.2-30.0, including grabbing 51 offensive rebounds over that span.

On the year, the Rams lead the Atlantic 10 and are second in the NCAA in turnovers forced (19.10/game) and turnover margin (6.0) and are first in the conference and third in the nation in steals (10.5/game).

Fordham (9-11, 3-4) returns to action on Saturday, January 28, as the Rams host the Davidson College Wildcats for an Atlantic 10 matchup in the historic Rose Hill Gym at 12:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network.
