Staten Island, N.Y. – Fordham sophomore
Mary Kate Kenny broke the school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.09 at the NYC Gotham Cup held at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday.
Kenny's time earned her a fifth place finish overall in the event. She was followed by teammate
Nkeka Pinheiro who finished sixth with a time of 25.38. Kenny and Pinheiro also earned top 15 finishes in the 60 meter dash with Kenny finishing in 11
th place with a time of 7.84 and Pinheiro finishing 15
th (7.93).
Laura Jaeger finished in 45
th place with a time of 8.29.

Other top finishers for the Ram women included
Merissa Wright who finished in eighth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.03.
Sydney Snow finished second in her section and 10
th overall in the 1,000 meter run with a season-best time of 2:58.66.
Blake Elwood also recorded a season best in the 1,000 meter run, winning her section and finishing 18
th overall with a time of 3:06.83.
Laurel Fisher finished 17
th overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.22 and
Abigail Taylor finished 18
th in the mile with a time of 5:24.10.
In the field events,
Gabriella Gavalas and
Mary Kate Caucci finished 24
th and 31
st with jumps of 15' 11.5" and 15' 3.25" respectively. Gavalas won her section and placed 9
th overall in the triple jump (36' 7.5"), while
Alina Kwiatkowski finished 23
rd (34' 0") and Caucci finished in 32
nd place (32' 11.25").
The Fordham men were led by the distance medley relay team of
Michael Petersen,
Jared Benn,
Brian Cook and
Thomas Slattery who won the event with an IC4A qualifying time of 10:00.10. It was also the second fastest time for that event in the country for the week of January 16-22 according to ustfcca.org.
Petersen had another strong showing in the 400 meter run, where he took sixth with a time of 49.22. Other top finishers for the Ram men were
Jake Duckworth who finished third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:09.72,
Ryan Kutch took seventh in the mile with a time of 4:22.59 and
Nik O'Brien finished in 12
th place in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:47.41.

th – 2:04.54) in the 800 meter run.
In the field,
Ryan Riviere finished 9
th overall in the pole vault with a jump of 13' 9.25" and
Andrew Byrne finished 18
th in the high jump at 6' 0.05".
The Rams return to action at the annual Terrier Classic at Boston University on Friday, January 27.
