Fordham VB Season Stats
Newport News, Va. -- The 2016 season has just begun and after a weekend's worth of matches, the Atlantic 10 has handed out its first batch of weekly awards. Monday afternoon the league recognized Fordham volleyball standout
Olivia Fairchild as this season's first Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams to two wins in their first three contests. Fairchild was instrumental over the weekend, leading all three matches in kills.
The Phoenix, Ariz. native made her Fordham debut with a bang this past weekend at the Blue Devil Classic, starting all three matches. Fairchild garnered match-highs in kills in all three contests, with a total of 57 through 13 sets, the second-highest number over the opening weekend in the A-10. In the season-opener against Lehigh, the freshman outside hitter slammed home 23 kills on 45 total attempts with a .333 hit percentage, while adding a match-high five aces to go with five digs. Fairchild's seven aces are tied for third-most in the league to this point. Against Iona on Saturday morning, Fairchild tallied 18 kills over four sets with a .275 hit percentage, while showing off her defensive abilities with three block assists and five more digs. In the loss to hosts Central Connecticut State, the freshman killed 16 points on 37 total attempts (.270 hit percentage), while adding another block assist and a career-high six digs. Fairchild was then named to the All-Tournament team.

Fordham hosts Manhattan in its home opener on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The match will be streamed live on the A-10 Digital Network.
