Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University women's basketball will be well represented the at the upcoming
2016 European Championship tournament (Division A) being held in Portugal from July 9-17. Ram sophomore
Kate Kreslina will compete for Latvia while incoming sophomore transfer Monika Radomska will be playing for Poland.
Poland, playing in Group A, will open play against Spain on Saturday, July 9, while Latvia, competing in Group C, will open on Saturday with a game against the Netherlands.
Kreslina, a 6-0 guard who missed the 2015-2016 season with an injury, has international experience with both Latvia's U18 and U20 National Teams. She was the youngest member of the Latvian Senior National Team and helped Latvia to a fifth-place finish in the U20 World Championships in 2014, as she led the team with 13.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Kreslina has represented Latvia since 2011 in the U16, U18 and U20 championships.
Radomska, a 5-11 guard, arrives at Fordham after spending the 2015-2016 season at Casper College in Wyoming where she started 27 of 29 games and averaged 14.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, while shooting over 38% from three-point range. She was named to the All-Region IX Tournament team, along with fellow Fordham recruit Mary Goulding.
Prior to Casper, Radomska was a member of the U16, U18 and U20 Polish National Team that competed at the Women's European Championship. At the U16 Championship, she averaged 11.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, while shooting 34% from three-point range and 81% from the charity stripe. In 2014 at the U18 Championship, she performed very well over nine games, averaging 13.3 points and 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 43% from the field and 78% from the free throw line. Her best game of the tournament came against Spain, netting a career-best 28 points and connecting on six three-pointers. Most recently, Radomska played at the U20 Championship in 2015, averaging 6.4 points over eight contests.
