Canessa & Runco Named Zipcar Performers of the Month for May

Fordham Athletics announced today that Softball's Sydney Canessa and Baseball's Joseph Runco have been selected as the Zipcar Performers of the Month for May.
 
Canessa was one of the driving forces behind the Rams' run to a fourth straight Atlantic 10 Championship and an NCAA Regional appearance for the sixth time in seven years.  She batted .333 with three doubles, two home runs, and 11 RBI for the month of May.  She captured _­First Team All-Atlantic 10 and Second Team NFCA All-Region honors to begin the month, and later collected one more accolade, as she was named to the NCAA Eugene All-Regional Team.
 
Runco finished his final campaign with a flurry, batting .333 with 10 runs scored, five doubles, two home runs, five RBI, and six stolen bases in the month of May.  That flurry got the senior infielder to 242 career hits, making him Fordham's all-time leader in that category.  He also became the Rams' all-time leader in games played (218) and at bats (854), while tying for second in career stolen bases (91).  At the Atlantic 10 Championship, he hit .417 with five runs scored, two doubles, and two stolen bases, which earned him a spot on the All-Championship Team
