Harrison, N.Y. -- The poor weather outside drove the Fordham men's tennis team indoors for its twinbill against Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn, both at nearby Life Time Athletic. The Rams split the two results, first a 5-0 loss against the Pioneers in the early evening match-up to snap a seven-match winning streak before starting a new streak with a 6-1 win over the Terriers. Fordham moves to 12-6 on the season with the two results.
Â
The Pioneers took a quick doubles point before earning four straight singles wins en route to the victory.
Victor Li and
Pedro Alonso's matches were left unfinished despite the duo leading in their respective matches, and in the former's case, leaning on match point.
Â
Tomas Cosmai dropped just his second match in his last eight outings, 6-1, 6-2, to Brian Power, before Mathieu Pilote took a 6-3, 6-0 win over
Joseph Kavaloski in the fifth position. The loss was Kavaloski's second in a row after seven straight solo victories.
Cameron Posillico lost, 6-0, 6-4, to Corey Seltman, before Karan Narula clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4, win over
Nick Borak.
Â
The Rams got back on track with a shutout of the neighboring Terriers. With St. Francis Brooklyn playing shorthanded, the first doubles match to finish would give that team the point and the Rams raced to a 6-3 victory in #1 doubles for the point. Li and Posillico downed the team of Milos Vukicevic and Zurab Tskhakaia.
Â
Vukicevic was the lone Terrier win with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over
Harris Durkovic in the fourth position. Cosmai grinded out a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Martin Bedecarratz, Alonso dropped Tskhakaia, 6-2, 6-3, and Borak was victorious over Sacha Singh, 6-3, 6-1. In the fifth spot, Christopher Caroli dropped Michael Sparacino, 6-0, 6-1.
Â
The Rams round out the home portion of their 2016 schedule with two matches at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Sunday, April 10. First up is Rockland at 11:30 a.m. before Fordham hosts Adelphi at 5 p.m. Prior to the start of the second match, senior
Pedro Alonso will be honored for his four years of service in a Senior Day ceremony. Follow Fordham Athletics on Twitter (@FordhamRams) for any scheduling updates due to weather forecasts tomorrow.
