Orlando, Fla. – After one day of competition at the 2016 Atlantic 10 golf championships at the Grand Cypress Golf Club, the Fordham University squad sits in a tie for fifth with a team score of 302 while
Matt Schiller and
Thomas Hayes are tied for sixth overall.

Dayton and Richmond are tied for the lead in the team completion with a six-over 294 after the first 18 holes while VCU is third (298), George Mason fourth (301) and Fordham and George Washington are tied for fifth, eight strokes behind the leaders at 302. Following Fordham and George Washington are La Salle (306), Davidson (309), Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island (313) and St. Bonaventure (319). Â

Schiller and Hayes each carded a one-over 73 today to sit in a tie for sixth, two strokes behind the leaders. Hayes recorded a team-high four birdies on the day while Schiller had three.

Joseph Trim is a shot behind Schiller and Hayes with a 74 on day one, carding three birdies and tying Schiller with a team-best eleven pars.

James Mongey turned in an 82 today to tie for 46th while
Oscar Cabanas scored an 87 to tie for 53rd.
