Newport News, Va. – Fordham men's tennis team standout
Tomas Cosmai has been named to the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team, as voted on by league coaches, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Cosmai, a transfer from Utah State, burst onto the Bronx scene with an impressive spring campaign, serving as the team's lead singles and doubles competitor, featuring in the first singles spot exclusively and primarily in the top two doubles positions.
The Franklin Lakes, N.J. product earned a 10-6 singles record this season, including a 6-3 mark over his last nine bouts, and a perfect 4-0 mark as part of the #1 doubles team, going 7-4 overall.
Between February 28 and April 7, Cosmai rattled off six wins in eight matches, with five two-set victories. In doubles action, Cosmai started in a pairing with freshman
Cameron Posillico in the three spot. The duo notched a 1-1 record in two winter matches. Head coach
Mike Sowter bumped Cosmai up to the second spot alongside
Joseph Kavaloski and the team compiled a 4-3 record from that position before spending time in the middle of the spring as the first doubles team, going 4-0 over a three week span.
This is Cosmai's second A-10 honor after garnering a Player of the Week award early in the 2016 campaign.
