Box ScoreBronx, N.Y. – Make it five straight for the surging Fordham men's tennis team after its latest 6-1 victory over New York neighbor Hunter College on Saturday morning. With the win, the Rams improve to 9-5 on the season. Fordham has now won six of its last seven.
Fordham again started its match out with the doubles point via two straight wins. Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week
Cameron Posillico and
Harris Durkovic combined for a 6-0 win over Filip Koritysskiy and Ard Pula before
Tomas Cosmai and
Joseph Kavaloski went for their third straight tandem victory, 6-2, over Carlos Sala and Florimund Le Goupil-Maier.
Durkovic met Pula in singles action and shutout the freshman, 6-0, 6-0, for his second straight such victory in #6 singles and Joe Kavaloski got the Rams within one point with his 6-0, 6-1 win over David Joseph at the fourth position. Posillico, for the third time in four matches, clinched the overall victory with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Koritysskiy in the fifth spot.
In other action, Cosmai got a rest in singles action and
Victor Li gained a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Gonzalo Saez in #1 singles. Sala clipped Alonso, 7-5, 6-2, in #2 singles for the Hawks' lone point but
Nick Borak downed Le Goupil-Maier, 6-3, 7-6 (7-6) to round out match play on the day.
The Rams, originally scheduled to face Adelphi in the Bronx and later in Garden City, will now play at a date to be determined. Fordham's next match will be Rider on Wednesday, April 6, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
