Polar Plunge InformationBRONX, N.Y. -- The Fordham women's volleyball team is going to volunteer this Saturday, March 12 in the 2nd Annual Rockaways Polar Plunge at Jacob Riis Park. The team will be helping out with setting up the event, registration, whatever is needed during the event and cleanup. The plunge is helping raise money for Special Olympics New York.
Last year the community came together and raised a record breaking $36,000 for the athletes. Plungers and supporters ranged from Special Olympics New York athletes and coaches to local high school students, clubs, and business owners. This year, they expect to grow the Polar Plunge to blow last year's numbers out of the water and need your help.
The goal is to educate students and faculty about Special Olympics New York. Special Olympics New York provides athletic training and competition to 65,665 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Through sports training and competition, Special Olympics New York offers continuing opportunities for athletes to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience the joy of achievement and make new friends.
