Wendy Espina-Esquivel Competes at NCAA Zone “A” Diving Championship

Sophomore Makes Championship Final in the Three-Meter Event

Fordham diver Wendy Espina-Esquivel took part in the two-day NCAA Zone "A" Diving Championship, held in Annapolis, Maryland, on March 7-8.
 
The Rams' sophomore diver represented the Maroon and White well in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, becoming the first Ram since Andrea Krok in 2012 to compete at the Zone Diving Championship.
 
On Monday, she placed 37th out of 59 divers on the one-meter event, posting a score of 210.65.

Then on Tuesday, Espina-Esquivel advanced to the championship final of the three-meter diving event after placing 17th out of 57 divers in the preliminaries with a score of 252.15.  Out of the 18 divers that made the final, she remained in 17th in the final, posting an overall score of 495.75.
 
Her performance at the Zone Diving Championship capped an excellent first season at Fordham for Espina-Esquivel.  She set school records in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, while earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in the one-meter diving event at the Atlantic 10 Championship.
