Golf Opens Spring Season at Wildcat Invitational

Malvern, Pa. - After a successful spring trip to Florida, the Fordham golf team opened its 2016 spring season today with the first round of the 2016 Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova University, at the White Manor Country Club.
 
After the first round Fordham is tied with Cleveland State for eighth place of 21 teams with a team score of 302, 13 strokes behind first day leader Wagner College.
 
Leading the way for the Rams is Oscar Cabanas, who shot a two-over 73 on day one which included a birdie on the par-5 17^th, though his score is not included in the team total. He is tied for 14th overall. Right behind him is Matt Schiller who carded a three-over 74 today with birdies on the 17th and on the par-4 second, to sit in a tie for 20th.
 
Also scoring for Fordham were Joe Trim, James Mongey and Tommy Hayes, who all shot a five-over 76 on day one. Hayes led the Rams with four birdies on the day while Mongey had two. The three are all tied for 41st overall.
 
The invitational will conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
