Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education (Wash.) was recognized for his athletic and academic accomplishments on Monday, as he was selected to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for men's swimming and diving in a vote by the conference's Sports Information Directors.
It is the 15th time over the past 16 years that Fordham had at least one student-athlete named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team. This is also the third straight season that Sholdra has been named to the All-Academic Team for the league.
Sholdra, an International Political Economy and Middle Eastern Studies major with minors in Arabic and Marketing, entered his final semester at Fordham with a 3.84 GPA.
He won the 400-yard individual medley (3:51.75) and 200-yard butterfly (1:47.10) events at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championships, while taking third in the 500-yard freestyle (4:26.27). All three times were school record marks, as well as the Atlantic 10 record in the 200 butterfly. His times in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly were also NCAA "B" cut times.
