ATLANTIC 10 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMSNEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Fordham women's basketball standout
Samantha Clark was voted Second Team All-Atlantic 10 and to the Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team, it was announced Tuesday by the league.
Duquesne's April Robinson and Saint Louis' Jackie Kemph have been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Year, while SLU's Lisa Stone was selected as Coach of the Year by her peers.
Dayton's Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova was named the Defensive Player of the Year, while Lauren Cannatelli received Rookie of the Year honors. Duquesne's Deva'Nyar Workman was named Sixth Woman of the Year and Rhode Island's Samantha Tabakman was named the league's Most Improved Player by the conference's 14 head coaches.
The major awards, the 15-member All-Conference teams, the All-Academic, All-Defensive and All-Rookie teams were selected in advance of the 2016 Women's Basketball Championship, which begins Wednesday at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va.
Clark has constructed a phenomenal senior campaign, and she recently became the third player in program history to tally 1,200 career points and 900 career rebounds. Clark currently ranks ninth all-time with 1,233 career points and second in rebounds with 927. She also ranks third in program history with 149 career blocks.
The Neptune, N.J. native leads the Rams in scoring (12.3 ppg), rebounding (9.6 rpg), assists (2.4 apg), blocks (1.2 bpg), steals (1.0 spg) and field goal percentage (.513, 142-of-277) while starting all 29 games and averaging a conference-best 37.3 minutes per game. Clark ranks 18th in the league in scoring, second in rebounding, eighth in blocks, third in field goal percentage, first in double-doubles and first in total rebounds. She also was forced to guard every team's top post player, and every time Clark shut that player down.
Nationally, Clark ranks 14th in total minutes played (1081:00), 16th in minutes played per game (37.3), 22 in defensive rebounds per game (7.0), 23rd in total rebounds (278), 26th in double-doubles (13) and 38th in rebounds per game (9.6).
Clark and her teammates begin Atlantic 10 Tournament action this Thursday, March 3, as the sixth-seeded Rams will play the winner of Wednesday's contest between #11 Massachusetts and #14 La Salle at 7 p.m. inside the Richmond Coliseum.
