ACWPC Press ReleasePHILADELPHIA – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches released its 2015 Men's All-Academic Team on Thursday afternoon, honoring student-athletes with a 3.2 GPA or higher, and teams with at least a 3.0 GPA.

The Fordham Men's Water Polo squad earned the team award with a 3.01 GPA, while 11 individuals were honored.

The ACWPC designates three types of All-Academic awards as Outstanding (4.00-3.71), Superior (3.70-3.41), and Excellent (3.40-3.20). A total of 326 student-athletes were nominated and selected this year. The total this year is 122 individuals higher than in 2014, when 204 were honored.

Ethan Hallowell, and
Bobby Wurtz earned 'Superior' honors, while
Jacob Alexander,
Patrick Harrigan,
Landon Kern,
Patrick Lenihan,
J.J. Meador,
Will Smoot, and
Ethan Vandeventer all earned 'Excellent' distinctions.

For co-captains DeFontes and Wurtz, this is the fourth consecutive year that they have been honored by the ACWPC. This is the third appearance for Lenihan after making the All-Academic Teams as a freshman and sophomore, while Kern was also honored as a freshman after the 2012 season.

Among CWPA schools, Fordham tied for fourth-most with 11 selections alongside Johns Hopkins and St. Francis Brooklyn.
